The opening is for a Sr Technical Writer position within the Ad Systems Program Management Office (PMO). The Ad Systems PMO is responsible for the management of AOL's advertising system projects, which align with an overall strategic initiative to provide new core ad serving capabilities.

The Sr Technical Writer will create, develop, plan, write and edit operational and instructional procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publication. Conduct interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation. Research and translate technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for nontechnical and technical users. Recommend formats responsive to technical and customer requirements. Produce products that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards.

This role will also work closely with Ad Systems trainers and may be responsible for developing training materials and delivering training to Platform A business users. Due to the number of systems involved, candidates must be a 'quick study' to ramp up and determine the appropriate effort for each documentation release.

Principal responsibilities:
* Demonstrates a comprehensive and expert understanding and applied knowledge of AOL, business systems and/or technical tools, applications and procedures.
* Responsible for technical documentation including manuals and online documentation.
* Plans and schedules documentation in proper time frame.
* Gathers technical information, prepares written text, coordinates layout and manual organization, verifies documentation with related departments, edits documentation and distributes completed documentation.
* Researches available engineering information such as drawings, design reports, equipment and test specifications.
* Participates in the development of documentation standards.
* Works with external vendors as needed and may coordinate the production and distribution of materials.

The following skills are required:
* Technical documentation of software applications including Online Help publication
* Strong business analysis and communication skills
* Familiarity with the software development lifecycle (requirements, design, build, test, deploy, and production support) including the Agile development model
* Facilitation amongst multiple stakeholder groups

The following skills would be a plus:
* Experience in online advertising
