Retail Marketing Intern
Direct Holdings Americas Inc, the exclusive marketer of Time Life music, videos, DVDs, books and educational materials, is looking for a Retail Marketing Intern. The position is based in Fairfax.
Position Overview: The Retail Marketing Intern will support the retail marketing function with
Sales and marketing research
Execution of parts of audio and video release marketing plans
Managing expenditures, processing payments, and analyzing the effectiveness of spending
Maintaining certain schedules
Support on line efforts
Responsibilities:
Sales and Marketing Research:
Researching artist’s sales histories and market activity using utilizing Soundscan, WEA distribution data, Videoscan, Amazon, All Music Guide, etc. to determine sales patterns and pricing for like product
Gather information of the potential market for third party and non-traditional sales as well as Canadian sales
Work with the Senior Vice President and Business Development, develop PRFs for potential projects
Execution of Parts of the Marketing Plan:
Work with Production to oversee the trafficking of label copy, liner notes and album/DVD masters to ensure that all deadlines are met
Secure and furnish advances to marketing partners e.g. publicity, on line, radio, retail etc.
Review final artwork, liner notes, and CD and DVD refs
Ensure that finished product is distributed timely
Develop and distribution of press announcements
On-line Retail Marketing:
Work with the external marketing firm and internal resources to:
·Develop and implementing on-line marketing plans for all releases
·Design/coordinate and distribute banner ads and line contests
·Write copy for posting to sites
·Create micro sites for specific projects
·Gather and exploit e-mail addresses, write newsletters, post video clips etc
·Communicate press results to Sales and other internal and external users
·Coordinate efforts with appropriate existing Time life web and on line initiatives
Managing expenditures, processing payments, and analyzing the effectiveness of spending:
Maintain a log of marketing commitments
Review and process invoices
Maintain a schedule of marketing expenditures by type and project
Analyze spending
Maintaining certain schedules:
Release schedule
Soundscan schedule
Marketing expenditures
Newsletters
Support on line efforts: Digital delivery, viral marketing, etc.
Qualifications:
Two undergraduate years in business administration or a related discipline
Genuine interest in media oriented businesses
Strong analytic and interpersonal skills
