CITY: Washington STATE: District of ColumbiaCOUNTRY: USAEssential Functions (Responsibilities):NBC Satellite Operations seeks a self starting individual to be a first level responder in trouble shooting issues. Candidate will provide preventative maintenance on the various systems supporting the Satellite News Gathering earth station and the terrestrial fiber optic circuits connecting our facility in Washington DC with NBC Transmission in New York. This position is for an individual who is comfortable in a dynamic and fast paced work environment and is willing to do all that needs to be done to solve technical problems during news emergencies. This position is a NABET Freelance position and is located in Washington DCThe Responsibilities of this position include, and are not limited to, performing troubleshooting and maintaining the following systems: Antenna control systems High Power Amplifier uplink chains L-band distribution systems Integrated receiver decoders MPEG-II encoding and compression hardware SDI/ASI routing switchers ASI multiplexing systems Gig-E fiber optic transmission systemsQualifications/Requirements:

Basic Qualifications: A degree in Electronic Engineering A degree in Computer Science Five years of training and experience in analog and digital television systems, satellite technologies, RF and fiber optic networks plus a thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking, MPEG-II transport stream management and the major media file transfer protocols.

Willingness to work overtime and on weekends with short notice.Must be willing to work at the station in Washington DC.Must be willing to work Nights.Must be willing to take drug test and submit to a background investigation.Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.Must be 18 years or older.Desired:Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interface with all levels of management and user community strong analytical and problem solving skills. In-depth experience (2+ years) with the following: Automation systems Traffic Systems Fiber and Satellite Distribution Technologies Video/Audio Encode/Decode and Transcode Technologies Media Ingest and Playback Systems Windows 2000/XP Pro desktop and Windows 2000/2003 server NT domains & Active Directory Desktop and HP server equipment TCP/IP Local Area and Wide Area network infrastructures Multi-Media Platforms, Internet/IntranetsGeneral:NBC Universal is one of the world's leading media and entertainment companies.
