Director of Marketing

 We are building *the* destination for smart news aggregation for busy people in a content-prolific world. We're launching a new site soon and will continue to grow and evolve through agile development on an ongoing basis. The brand will be delivered through web, mobile, email, distributed content and syndication and will include text, video, audio and imagery.We are seeking a Director of Marketing to lead all consumer marketing efforts for this new site.  To be considered for this position, you need several years experience in a traditional marketing role as well as the know-how to build, grow and promote a new brand online.  You understand about how web technology works and how to use it, and you want to be actively engaged in managing, promoting, supporting, and growing a new brand within a start-up environment.  This is a great opportunity where you will be responsible for the following areas: Conceiving new ideas to drive site visitors Tactics may include: Viral pass-along opportunities PR / paid publicity 1:1 online influencer campaigns Content syndication SEM Local events/promotions Monitoring and optimizing marketing initiatives to ensure effectiveness Managing all marketing partnerships Partnering with the GM and Head of Product to guide product roadmap toward revenue and audience growth while protecting the brand’s values Identifying and exploring new opportunities (products or extensions) Leading and executing advertising sales development efforts Creating sponsorship opportunities Here’s what we’re looking for: You’re an experienced marketer who is not afraid to take calculated risks and who can grow a business in a cost-effective manner You have experience developing creative campaigns that resonate with media and consumers You’re in tune with the latest trends in online news consumption You can manage projects with a lot of moving parts You're passionate and persuasive and able to work collaboratively with different personalities and work styles QUALIFICATIONS BA/BS required.  MBA and agency experience a plus.  The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of work experience, including at least 2 years of online marketing experience and 2 years of general marketing experience.
