Responsibilities and Opportunities: Perform any combination of sample accession tasks, including opening, entering, tracking, labeling, shipping and review. Review sample inventory against samples to ensure accuracy. Communicate discrepancies to appropriate personnel. Solve problems independently, contacting internal or external clients for clarification as needed. Communicate confirmation of sample receipt to clients, if appropriate. Handle internal and external customer inquiries and requests. Distribute sample information and paperwork. Responsible for entry and accuracy of sample tracking systems. Introduce and independently develop improvement ideas for the group. Works with the customer service coordinators to establish customer service procedures, as appropriate. Assist in training new employees, working with and directing less experienced staff, and prioritizing workloads and/or special projects on a daily basis. Take action for the department when additional responsibilities and opportunities are presented. Before drugs, chemicals, or foods can be sold, they must be evaluated for safety and effectiveness. Covance provides international testing services to clients in the pharmaceutical, food, biotechnology and chemical services industries.Experience: Excellent customer service skills including attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality. Ability to identify and communicate customer service needs. Effective conflict resolution skills. Ability to use a variety of computer applications and proficient at the department specific software used. Excellent documentation skills. Working knowledge of company procedures for sample receipt, transfer and shipping.Education: Associate degree in related science field is preferred, plus 2-3 years applicable experience. Experience may be substituted for degree. Physical requirements include, but are not limited to, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
