Production Associate II - US

Position Objective: Apply laboratory techniques and skills to perform conjugation and purification of proteins and other bio-molecules. Perform column chromatography: gel filtration, ion exchange, FPLC or HPLC. Independently perform in-process testing of bio-products such as protein concentration, absorbance ratios, D.O.S., TLC, QY. Produce, package, label and turn in finished products to stock. Make detailed observations, analyze data, and assist in interpretation of results. Write production protocols and Batch Records. Maintain accurate and detailed records. Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve standard laboratory techniques, improve protocols, processes and equipment. Essential Functions: Perform conjugation and purification of proteins and other bio-molecules using laboratory equipment and calculations. Plan use of equipment, materials and own time. Perform new product development as needed. Provide technical support to other bio-production staff as needed. Make detailed observations and analyze data. Maintain accurate lab notebook and training file in accordance with Division standard. Advise supervisor of factors that may affect quality, accuracy and usefulness of data. Assist supervisor in the interpretation of experiment results. Advise supervisor of factors that may affect product quality. Troubleshoot and suggest options for process improvement. Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve standard laboratory techniques, improve protocols, processes and equipment. Read literature directly associated with assigned project. Maintain some familiarity with competitive products. Comply with all company safety regulations and procedures. Report non-compliance and may serve as team lead. May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned. Nature and Scope: Position exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Perform duties independently with only general direction given on routine work. Receive detailed instruction on new assignments or in the design of experiments. Ability to appreciate importance of project toward Company’s objectives. Ability to meet tight deadlines. Job encounters recurring work situations with occasional variations from the norm, involving a moderate degree of complexity. Works on problems where analysis of situation or data requires a review of multiple identifiable factors. Accuracy is required in performing all functions of this position. Mistakes in work could cause substantial lost of expensive starting materials and result in back orders. Measures of Contribution/Impact: Successful execution of assigned production duties in a timely manner. Demonstrated ability to communicate project’s linkage to company’s objectives. Technical Excellence: Knows the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of biochemistry; continues development of technical expertise through experience and application. Education: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other related discipline, or the equivalent knowledge and experience. Master’s Degree preferred. Experience: Requires a minimum of 2 years laboratory experience in a work environment with a Bachelor’s degree; or a Master’s Degree with relevant laboratory class work. Master’s Degree with industry experiences such as Lean Manufacturing or cGMP preferred. Key knowledge includes: • Working knowledge of biochemistry practices and equipments. • Working knowledge of experimental design. Key skills/abilities include: • Proficiency in the use of basic laboratory techniques, equipment and materials required. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, Access, Microsoft Project and Power Point. • Ability to carry out instructions, ability to work independently and follow safety protocols. • Time management skills, good organizational skills and ability to complete multiple tasks quickly and efficiently and ability to work under minimal supervision required.
