Commodity Manager Requisition Number: 63084Position Description Lead the organization in commodity strategy development and implementation. Lead sourcing teams in supplier selection.  Perform business reviews including the communication of high level quality data and supplier performance.  Develop track and monitor product cost.  Negotiate and administer contracts. Manage, facilitate and monitor, communications with suppliers and Physio Control employees.  Serve as an escalation path for issue resolution between materials procurement and the supplier. Maintain overall business ownership of key supplier relationships. Develop and maintain a qualified supplier base, while understanding technology trends and market influences. Position Responsibilities Develop and implement strategies and goals for assigned commodities which support department objectives for quality, cost, and supplier development. Participate in  product development activities for assigned commodities.   Develop and maintain responsibility for the business relationships with suppliers. Responsible for sourcing, cost and the execution of contractual responsibility for specified commodities. Maintain cost models and cost metric by supplier and commodity. Develop, maintain and monitor other supplier measurement tools as appropriate for the commodity and purchasing spend for a specific supplier. Lean in market research prepare RFI/RFQ packages, analyze and evaluate returned data. Assume project management role as required for subcontracted new product development and sourcing projects. Communicates trends in technologies and market conditions with respect to assigned commodities. Perform cost analyses, and make versus buy analyses as required. Participate in the development of materials policies and procedures. Travel to supplier locations as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Arts or Science, (Business or Operations Management preferred). Seven years planning, purchasing, management, or leadership experience required. Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted. Desired/Preferred Qualifications Supervisory experience desired. Active participation in related professional association and Certified Purchasing Manager certificate. Strong leadership, customer service, problem solving, communication, negotiation, tact, judgment, and organization skills.   Knowledge of material requirements planning (MRP) Knowledge and experience in contractual negotiations and administration Knowledge of procurement, strategy and market drivers Knowledge of various manufacturing processes and the importance of material controls Knowledge of current production control methods and buying standards Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
