Covance offers a great environment in which to build your career - while making a difference in the lives of millions.WE BUILD CAREERS!As an animal Technician you will learn to provide general facility maintenance and cleanliness and to dispense diets in compliance with appropriate regulatory agency guidelines. To monitor animal health and welfare in compliance with the Animal Welfare Act and help maintain facilities for AAALAC compliance.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Learns to clean feeders, water bottles, animal caging, and other items. Clean and sanitize animal rooms or pens, hallways, stairways, and other non-animal areas. Learns to collect and record applicable hand recorded and computer generated data. Learns to operate and perform quality control checks on appropriate equipment. Provide clean waste removal system and change air filters. Learns to receive new animals, set up housing, provide feed and water, and fill out animal arrival information. Learns to monitor animal room and feed storage environmental conditions (e.g., temperature, humidity, watering system, condition of animals). Maintain safe work environment. Suggests changes in routine test procedures and makes minor adjustments to basic equipment or apparatus. Learns to maintain well documented laboratory records according to GLPs. Overtime and weekend work as required. Mandatory immunizations and screening as required. Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Work may require PPE (personal protective equipment). EXPERIENCE Experience in pet stores, animal labs, farms, kennels, breeders, veterinary clinics, or other environments where exposure to animals was a part of the daily responsibilities is a PLUS. Please indicate any animal experience on your resume. EDUCATION High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to accurately read, record, and communicate information. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
