Quality Engineer
Flex-N-Gate Alabama, a tier one supplier to the automotive industry is currently recruiting for a Supplier Quality Engineer.
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
· HS Diploma or Equivalent.
· BS in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent
SPECIFIC WORK EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:
· Minimum 3-5 Years experience in a quality engineering role with a tier one supplier to the automotive industry;
· Minimum 3-5 years experience working in a stamping and assembly environment;
· Experience using MS Word, Excel, and Outlook Software;
· Ability to communicate effectively.
Essential Functions:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for but not limited to:
· Working closely with Manufacturing, Engineering Departments and the customer and suppliers to assure products meet customer needs;
· Review of tooling, processes, and controls up front;
· Considering design for manufacturing, process controls, and cost in decision making process;
· Ensuring shop floor has capability and resources to produce product to specifications;
· Developing Inspection Standards and Quality Key Points
· Developing and initiating standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation;
· Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating and reporting quality data;
· Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of suspect material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility;
· Training and education of associates in quality standards;;
· Working with Engineering to establish effective tool try out and variability study procedures.
· Coordinating try out needs with CMM availability, technicians, and shop schedules.
· Building part specific data to support process controls and customer needs;
· Establishes testing measures and histories to avoid repeat problem in manufacturing;
· Assists to coordinate changes with Engineering and Quality Departments;
· Develops formal tracking and response system to follow up on internal and external Quality issues;
· Places priority on customer service and response;
· Has general awareness of safety requirements and regulations;
· Has general awareness and knowledge of TS16949 / ISO14001 standards and how they effect the department;
· Ability to stand for periods of up to 10 hours;
· Ability to bend, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs. repetitiously;
· Ability to operate metallurgical testing equipment such as the plasma torch, band saw, cutoff machine, polishing / sanding machine and microscope;
· Good visual skills; and
· Ability to hear warning devices.
