Conventional Machinist (non CNC) / Maintenance & Manufacturing SupportDUTIES: Responsibilities will include setup, adjust, maintain and operate manual milling machine, manual lathe, surface grinder, drill press, various types of small welding jobs, and use of a wide variety of manual and power tools in order to fabricate and repair parts for in-house built automation projects and manufacturing equipment needs.
Must be able to read and understand blueprints and complex sectional drawings. Must have knowledge, understand and be able to work 100% in the metric measurement system Must be able to setup, operate, and maintain all common manual tool-shop machinery such as mill, lath, surface grinder, drill and etc. Must be able to produce micro finishes while boring, milling and facing irregular-shaped difficult to hold components including ability to maintain tight tolerances. Must be able to use a wide variety of precisions measuring equipment and layout to inspect parts and work. Must be able to perform smaller welding jobs applying various welding technologies Will support, maintain, and repair manufacturing equipment as needed and work on continuous improvement projects in a team environment. Good troubleshooting skills for mechanical processes involving all parts and technologies of today's manufacturing environment. Good understanding of small hydraulics, pneumatic driven components, and common electrical sensoric/switches a plus. Must be able to work overtime, irregular hours, and shifts on as needed base All other duties as required.
OVERALL: This position offers an interesting and wide range of responsibilities, challenges, and a diversified interesting work field in an international team of engineers, which requires a broad knowledge of all methods, creativity, and skills in the mechanical machining, fabrication and maintenance trade - starting from fabrication of simple fixtures to the repair and fabrication of challenging individual precision parts for highly sophisticated pneumatic and robotic manufacturing / assembly machinery in a clean work environment - no heavy duty job shop machining. The individual will be required to be self motivated, skilled, and willing to accept challenges in new work fields.QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a minimum of 5+ years of experience operating manual machinery for milling, drilling, turning, welding, and various hand and power tools; requires knowledge of machining technology, mechanical principals and advanced shop mathematics; employee must be able to perform work independent with limited or no supervision and as needed. Must be able to read, write, and speak English at appropriate level.REQUIREMENTS: Must have valid work authorization for the US; no relocation support will be provided; must live or relocate to Hampton Roads area.
