Sr. Lighting Designer - Studio Lead

Pivotal Lighting Design Group, an international practice, high-end lighting design firm with studios in Seattle WA, Chicago IL and Madison WI, seeks an energetic, visionary lighting design talent to lead its Madison WI practice. Pivotal Lighting Group is a subsidiary of Affiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI) a national engineering consulting firm specializing in the world class design of building systems for cutting edge facilities, with offices in Madison WI, Chicago IL, Houston TX, Seattle WA, Phoenix, AZ, Walnut Creek CA, Metro DC, Chapel Hill NC, Tampa and Gainesville FL. This position embodies unlimited potential for creativity, growth and innovation for the right individual including design, leadership, marketing, and mentoring opportunities.

 

You will use your skills to interpret design criteria, establish concepts, and lead a team of skilled designers and support staff from planning through construction on large-scale cutting-edge facilities, including major corporate, commercial, healthcare, R&D, higher education and historic building types.

 

You will work closely with the existing Pivotal Studio Lead in the Chicago studio to assist in growing and extending our national/international presence in the Architectural Lighting Design market, be involved in some business development for the group, and be essential in mentoring and developing junior and seasoned staff.

 

This position will be located in Madison, Wisconsin.  Relocation assistance is available.

 

The right candidate:

 We seek a highly talented individual with a minimum of 5-7 years of senior-level lighting design experience who is motivated and organizedHave the experience and ability to lead, mentor and motivate team membersShould be a detail-oriented professional capable of handling project coordination from beginning to end on multiple projects with critical and overlapping deadlines Must possess strong written, oral, interpersonal and technical communication skills in order to effectively communicate with clients and manufacturers Be able to efficiently generate, review and interpret lighting calculations, details, layouts, specifications, shop drawings and photometric test reports Must be able to solve design problems expeditiously via research and mockup creation for the development of preliminary lighting design solutions

Some of the duties assigned may include:

 Lighting design from schematic phase to final construction completion for projects both large and small Project and file management and resource scheduling Interface with clients, owners, construction personnel Review of lighting plans, details, renderings and complex lighting calculations Enforcement of project and application standards Supporting various QA/QC protocols
