Project manager (Architect)

Summary of Position

 

Under the direction of the Studio Leader, assumes the full responsibility of project overview, monitoring and control of the project delivery process.  Works with project design and technical leaders throughout all phases of service as co-equal in establishing and accomplishing project objectives.  Assist the Studio Leader in achieving project and office goals.

 Position Responsibilities

 Under the direction of the Studio Leader and together with project design and technical leaders, prepares the Owner-Architect agreement consistent with written proposal and information given by the Owner subsequent to proposal presentation.

 Administers Owner-Architect agreement.

 Together with senior designer and project architect, develops and maintains staff budgets consistent with the Owner-Architect agreement and the business plan of the firm.

 Prepares agreements for and administer control of all project consultants subcontracted by this firm.

 Establishes with senior designer and project architect task schedule and manpower requirements consistent with the project agreement. Responsible for identifying weekly project requirements as well as for projecting long term needs.

 Monitors work in progress to ensure this firm’s project team compliance with all project milestones.

 Sets up and maintains all project communications and record storage.

 Works with the Project Architect and general contractor to ensure all documentation for construction permits are filed with the appropriate agencies and all approvals are received prior to closing project.

 Maintains control over distribution of all project documentation.

 Attends and directs all project meetings in-house, with the client, subcontracted consultants and the builder.

 If required, reviews contractor requisitions, bulletins, change orders and certificates of payment and present recommendations to Owner.

 Reviews and approves this firm’s invoices before they are issued.

 Monitors project accounts payable and assists Studio Leader in collection and/or adjusting unpaid balances.

 Documents all project meeting proceedings.

 Together with Senior Designer and Project Architect identifies and quantifies tasks which are outside of the scope of the Owner-architect agreement for presentation to the Studio Leader and the Owner.

 Establishes and maintains relationship with the client’s representative to ensure continuous client satisfaction with quality of service.

 Qualifications

 Degree in Architecture from an accredited university

 Minimum of 7 to 12 years experience in architectural or interior design firm, development/or corporate facilities construction management.

 Licensed architect

 Demonstrated understanding of the architectural process from proposal and contract negotiations through contract administration

 Demonstrated knowledge of architecture and/or interior design planning, technical detailing and construction.

 Good verbal and written communication skills.

 Architectural practice license desirable.

 Knowledge of CAD and/or other applicable computer software.
