Responsibilities:
As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM's mission by: Preparing detail and layout drawings and sketches of unusual, complex, or original designs that require the application of theoretical and practical engineering knowledge Determining material needs and performing necessary calculations, using accepted formulas and references per company standards Performing other related discipline tasks in support of the project engineer, such as compiling and computing engineering data, estimating, etc. Reviewing manufacturers' or fabricators' prints for aid in design documents Providing lower-level design/drafting personnel with design sketches for the preparation of finished design drawings, general layouts, and guidance in refining technical requirements Checking work assigned to lower-level design/drafting personnel Regularly interfacing with other departments, clients, vendors, and project engineers in order to support project production Performing related fundamental engineering support tasks (plotting drawings, preparing transmittals, preparing overnight packages, updating computer lists, filing prints, distributing drawings, making simple calculations, proofreading reports, etc.) Establishing basic design criteria for an assigned phase of a project, requiring the application of basic engineering principles, material properties, and a familiarity with construction, installation, and maintenance procedures Supporting field assignments as required Possibly providing conceptual input to projects during the planning stages
Job Requirements: Normally requires a high school graduate with vocational technical training in basic drafting technology and typically 11-12 years of related experience (or equivalent working knowledge/experience), or a 2-year degree in drafting/design technology and 9-10 years of related experience. Incumbent must demonstrate a sound understanding of design concepts with minimal engineering input and a proficiency in utilizing manual and computer-assisted techniques for moderately-difficult design assignments.
Must be proficient in INROADS or GEOPAK. Microstation would also be valuable.
