Facilities Program Manager - Term of Project

Term of Project (TOP) is a specific status for positions that have a defined duration. TOP employees recieve benefits similar to regular full time employees but are not compensated after their assignment (6-24 months) ends. This position will perform project management and oversight during the commissioning and decommissioning of the PSC scoring sites for 2009; approximately 10-12 sites that must be in service at approximately the same time. The position will organize and direct the efforts of facilities specialists that handle all facets of facilities services and administrative operations in commissioning and decommissioning the sites. This includes working with end users and local real estate professionals in site selection and leasing; space planning efforts, construction management and rental of furniture and equipment. This position will lead the efforts of a cross functional team, manage ongoing team communications and pro-actively addresses all facilities related issues. This is a term of project assignment. Formal education or equivalent experience ' Bachelor's degree with previous experience in project management, site set up, facilities or related fields. Skills/knowledge/abilities ' Ability to organize and direct multiple projects simultaneously under tight time deadlines' Must be able to operate comfortably in a fast-paced environment that requires a high degree of coordination with other departments.' Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to professionally represent Pearson facilities with other employees, outside contractors and landlords. ' Working knowledge of blueprints, equipment data sheets, bid documents, plans and specifications; including ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical and electrical drawings.' Excellent problem solving and follow through abilities; attention to detail.' Ability to create and monitor budgets and develop ad hoc reports' Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to develop and implement process improvements. ' Proficiency in Word, Excel, MS Project Management. Working knowledge of Autocad/CAFM software preferred. ' Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects varying in size and complexity.' Familiarity with real estate selection processes and prior work with landlords preferable' Ability to travel as required.
