The qualified candidate must have a B.A or B.S. Environmental Science or similar field with at least 5 years experience in environmental consulting and/or with an environmental regulatory agency, training in Rosgen Stream Channel Design and must have strong written and oral communication skills.
Requirements:
Wetland and Stream restoration experience in preparing and understanding compensatory mitigation plans is required. Vegetation and wildlife identification skills are preferred. Experience with preparation of: US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Section 404 permit applications, USACE Wetland Jurisdictional Determinations (JD), state wetland permit applications, and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation. Natural Channel design training is preferred. Other preferred skills, but not required, include Auto CADD, GIS, and HECRAS modeling.
Job Description:
The Senior Environmental Scientist position will be part of the West Virginia Mitigation Office located in Oak Hill, WV. This position will report directly to the Director of Operations and overseeing the environmental science team. The team is responsible identifying and evaluating potential mitigation sites and preparing Project Assessment documentation, Reviewing Mitigation Bank Prospectus, Project Permits, overseeing consultants, and contractors and a variety of natural resource assessments and studies including wetland delineations and Threatened/Endangered (T/E) species surveys. The candidate will become an important member of the expanding regional office working within a 5 state region.
This position will also indirectly report to Regional Director within the Mid Atlantic office for the support of providing activities for multiple environmental projects by providing research, field studies, field team oversight, data analysis, and report preparation.
