Seed Treatment Sales Representative - Southern Iowa / Missouri

BCS is structured into six Business Operations units: four regional crop protection units and two units responsible for Environmental Science and BioScience – offering an outstanding range of products and extensive service backup for modern, sustainable agriculture as well as for non-agricultural applications.ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibility of this role as Seed Treatment Sales Representative is to execute sales initiatives which maintain and/or increase business at current accounts in the territory, which is located in Southern one-third of Iowa and Missouri (minus the boot heel),. This position also recommends solutions and future courses of action to increase business, including development of account strategies. The territory is primarily a Seed Treatment fungicide and insecticide market. Responsibilities will include working with Seed Companies, Downstream retail customers along with some grower interaction. Among other opportunity areas, the territory holds great promise for sales of current products such as Poncho, Trilex, Gaucho, Allegiance, CelGard polymer and colorants. Other opportunities includes excellent growth potential in the downstream retail markets with our new Trilex 5000 and Trilex 6000 soybean systems as well as our Gustafson equipment offerings. The Seed Treatment Sales Representative will also have responsibility for working with Seed Companies developing Liberty Link soybeans in the marketplace. Total territory invoice sales: approximately $6 million.The incumbent will: - Develop sales strategies for assigned customers and potential customers; - Communicate customer requirements to proper internal personnel; - Call on existing and potential customers to sell Bayer products and present recommendations on product introduction; - Participate in local organizations to maintain awareness of industry issues; - Gather, assimilate and analyze market and competitive information; - Achieve or exceed budgeted sales volume for assigned area; - Develop and update annual sales forecast; - Assist in formulation and implementation of long and short-term strategic sales plans for accounts within assigned area - Formulate and recommend strategies for achieving long and short business plans for key accounts and assigned area; - Participate in industry trade shows; - Assist in establishment and maintenance of travel/entertainment budget; - Able to travel 50-75%, with occasional overnight travel;QualificationsThe selected candidate will possess: - B.S. degree in agribusiness, ag-science, agronomics or a related agricultural baccalaureate is preferred; - Five or more years of proven agricultural chemical sales experience/or seed treatment sales; - Advanced understanding of sales/marketing techniques and knowledge of the assigned products, markets, application technology and customer base; - Good organizational and planning skills; - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written); - Advanced persuasive abilities and negotiation skills in order to influence current and potential customers to Bayer products; - Ability to travel 50-75%, with occasional overnight travel.Preferred Qualifications - MBA; - Previous Crop Protection Manufacturer or Distribution Sales experience; - Previous Seed Treatment Distributor Sales experience.Bayer BenefitsWe offer a wide variety of competitive compensation and benefit programs.
