Dole Fresh Vegetables, based in Monterey, California, is the nation's leading producer of packaged salads as well as a major grower and harvester of vegetable commodity products. Dole Food Company is the world''s largest produce company. Among many of its business initiatives, is a network of four US salad manufacturing facilities. The newest of these facilities was opened in January, 2007, in Bessemer City (25 miles southeast of Charlotte), North Carolina. Our Bessemer City location currently has a career opportunity for a Production Supervisor with a degree in industrial engineering or a related field. This position will be part of the production supervisory team and support day-to-day manufacturing while recognizing and applying process engineering quality opportunities through industrial engineering initiatives. Scope of Responsibilities: To supervise the production process, with focus on product engineering, process engineering and quality initiatives. Achieve optimum production efficiency and productivity goals, while maintaining the quality and integrity of food safety, handling, and sanitation. Supervise production and processing activities to include:'' Maximize the effectiveness of appropriately 120 hourly employees, equipment, materials, and processes, to manufacture and package products within planned schedules at a minimum cost.'' Train employees on job responsibilities and goals, holding employees and production group accountable for results. '' Ensure availability of adequate supplies and materials needed to meet and exceed productivity standards.'' Inspect production equipment on a regular basis, arrange for any maintenance needs to prevent downtime.'' Maintain good communication with supervisors in other areas and on other shifts to ensure smooth running of production and processing throughout the Plant.'' Promote and maintain excellent safety, quality, sanitation, and housekeeping standards. SKILLS & ABILITIES: The successful candidate must be self-motivated, a creative thinker, and possess outstanding problem-solving skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
