BCS is structured into six Business Operations units: four regional crop protection units and two units responsible for Environmental Science and BioScience – offering an outstanding range of products and extensive service backup for modern, sustainable agriculture as well as for non-agricultural applications.ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibility of this role as Product Manager, Seed Treatment is to establish a five-year asset portfolio strategy for assigned product portfolio and three-year brand plans for its component brands, lead and motivate the Asset Team through annual cycle of developing, updating and executing asset strategies and brand plans, and lead coordination of production, inventory management.The incumbent will: - Complete thorough strategic and profitability analysis of new development candidates and drive time to market/peak sales of approved projects. This includes planning and implementation of pre launch activities and operational support for products in partnership with relevant crop managers; - Establish five-year Asset Portfolio Strategies for assigned active ingredient portfolio. Strategies must articulate operational and financial objectives for product launch, lifecycle management and lay out activities and responsibilities for brand identity development, product development, regulatory and supply chain; - Establish three-year Brand Strategies including positioning by crop, technical and brand performance objectives, distribution strategy, grower influence strategy and pricing; - Lead the Asset Portfolio Team including organizing and leading meetings. Set clear objectives for development and manufacturing activities (i.e., R&D formulations, toxicology, metabolism, production, etc.) to ensure the proper development and registration of new products, and expansion of developed products. Develop and secure budget for asset team; - Optimize allocation of AI volume (note – only relevant in allocation situation) and brand funding across crops consistent with overall asset strategy and value capture opportunities; - Optimize local COGS of products within relevant portfolio and oversee the S&OP process; - Build brands with clear positioning within relevant crops and clear price corridors to maximize profitability within targeted grower segments. Liaise with agency staff, industry associations and internal colleagues to direct development of brand identity; - Identify and recommend business development and licensing/acquisition activities which complement the assigned active ingredient portfolio; - Communicate with appropriate staff in Monheim to keep them apprised of product activity and direction in USA; - Network with global and other country asset portfolio teams to exchange best practices.QualificationsThe selected candidate will possess: - BS in a business, agricultural-related science, business or appropriate related field, with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience. A marketing emphasis is key; an MBA would be a plus; - Excellent oral, written and network communication skills to effectively inform and influence sales and product management teams. Must be capable of building strategic relations and influencing customer behavior via; - Strong analytical skills; - Aptitude to understand and create long-term strategic plans, including partnerships with groups preparing new products for testing and potential market launch; - A proven work history of acting as a team player with outstanding organizational and analytical skills; - Ability to work with marketing counterparts to maximize sales opportunities; - Strong understanding of the fundamentals of Marketing and Sales as well as Supply Chain and Production Planning. Demonstrated problem solving skills necessary to anticipate, pre-empt and deal with volatile, rapidly changing market conditions. A history of successful efforts demonstrating “foresight” of market trends is expected; - Deep understanding of branding and financial planning; - General computer proficiency including standard software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Exchange, PowerPoint, database management);Preferred Qualifications - MBA.Bayer Benefits We offer a wide variety of competitive compensation and benefit programs.
