Product Manager

TITLE: Product Manager  DEPARTMENT: Ag Business / Crop Nutrients  LOCATION:  Inver Grove Heights, Corporate Office   CHS Inc. is a diversified Fortune 150 company providing essential grain, food and energy resources to businesses and consumers.  CHS is a cooperative system owned by farmers, ranchers and their local cooperatives from the Great Lakes to the Pacific Northwest and from the Canadian border to Texas.   Position Overview:   CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Crop Nutrients Division. We are looking for a Product Manager at our Corporate Headquarters located in Inver Grove Heights, MN. The incumbent will purchase and manage our Ammonia position to maximize sales and margins with acceptable risk to provide adequate supply and margins to meet profitability and growth objectives. The ideal candidate must be able to make decisions and work independently.  The incumbent must be detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.  RESPONSIBILITIES:  Ã˜  Purchasing to meet sales demand of $550-$600 million.Ø  Communication with suppliers and creation of quotes to customers.Ø  Position planning for levels of $25 million and purchase/sale recommendation.Ø  Monitor markets to properly position Crop Nutrients to take advantage of market opportunities at acceptable risk levels.Ø  Market information to sales force – marketing programs.Ø  Develop on going communication tools to disseminate market information.Ø  Develop forward thinking strategies regarding market direction.Ø  Assimilate and interpret data to gain insight into market direction.Ø  Develop and maintain supplier relationships for annual purchases of $525-$550 million.Ø  On going communication with domestic and international suppliers.Ø  Develop strategic sourcing plans to meet growth targets.Ø  Work with key suppliers to develop supply plans and contracts that reflect the value add.Ø  Presentations to potential customers, existing customers, Coop Board of Directors, & colleaguesØ  Domestic Travel less than 20% BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:  Ã˜  Bachelor degree in BusinessØ  10 years of experience in Fertilizer purchasing, selling, and/or marketingØ  Knowledge of commodity markets and risk management tools.Ø  Selling and negotiating skills.
