Division Description:
The Deputy Commissioner for Management and Budget oversees a wide range of divisions, including but not limited to Revenue, Operations and Management Planning, Labor Relations, Marketing & Special Events, and the Parks Opportunity Program (POP), the largest transitional work program in the nation. With DPR entering this exciting era of growth and revitalization, the Deputy Commissioner is seeking a hard-working, intelligent, and motivated Policy Analyst to join his team. This individual will be an integral member of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, responsible for assisting his divisions with a variety of challenging projects. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. Responsibilities:
We seek a highly motivated self-starter to perform difficult and responsible administrative work for the development, implementation and coordination of special projects for the divisions under the Deputy Commissioner’s oversight. Identify and communicate emerging issues to the Deputy Commissioner in a timely manner. Research potential funding opportunities and write grants for POP. Assist with the research and creation of new education and skills training opportunities for POP clients. Serve as a liaison to the Revenue Division and assist in the preparation of Request for Bids as well as Requests for Proposals. Evaluate the performance of new pilot programs designed to target specific cohorts in POP. Work with the Deputy Commissioner, Parks staff, Community Boards, and other governmental agencies to develop and implement effective public policy. Manage constituent correspondence and draft bi-weekly reports.
Qualification Requirements: A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible experience as described in “1” above; or A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible experience as described in “1” above; or Education and/or experience equivalent to “1”, “2”, or “3” above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in “1” above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in “1” above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3 ½ years.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Exceptional ability to articulate ideas and think creatively as well as strategically about complex issues. Demonstrated ability to communicate with individuals at all levels and work effectively with teams. Ability to independently initiate projects Strong administrative and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
