Manager, Accounting (Consolidations)

We are currently seeking a Manager, Accounting – Consolidations for our Plymouth, MN location.  This is a key position in the Corporate Finance Group.  Responsible for the overall consolidation of financial statements for the Company and maintaining and developing standard reporting processes and formats to help ensure consolidated financials are accurate.  This person is also responsible for leading special projects as assigned by the Assistant Controller.

 

Principle Accountabilities:

 

· Responsible for overall accuracy of the consolidated financial statements.  This includes verifying select balance sheet accounts on a consolidated basis to ensure the consolidation process has been performed correctly and the data provided to Senior Management is accurate.  Assists the business units in reviewing, analyzing, and reconciling monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and statistical data, including inter-company accounts.  Addresses special requests for data as needed from the consolidation system for the business units, tax, treasury, Cargill and internal / external auditors.  Responsible for the Company’s Chart of Accounts – approving additions and descriptions.

· Responsible for preparation and review on a consolidated basis of shareholders equity, inventory, minority interest, equity in non-consolidated subsidiaries, etc. by working closely with Treasury, Legal, Tax, Cargill and the business units.

· Perform the annual goodwill impairment testing and on a quarterly basis ensure goodwill accounts are properly stated by working with the business units.

· Lead special projects related to consolidation system such as upgrades, implementations, acquisitions, etc.

· Participates in senior level special projects as designated by the Assistant Controller.

Required Education, Experience, Skills:

 Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, MBA preferred.CPA is preferred.Proficient in MS Office and SAP (preferred)8+ years of experience in a senior accounting role in a corporate environment for a large complex company with over $1 billion in sales and global operations.Experience managing/leading others.Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to develop workable alternatives and solutions. Comfortable performing under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual situations.Motivated and driven self-starter seeking constant challenge and new responsibilities. Able to work independently with limited supervision, including being able to assess situations/issues, determine the best course(s) of action and then execute on the solution(s).Working knowledge of financial and accounting concepts and practices with understanding of U.S. GAAP and the ability to apply these principles in practice. Four years plus of public accounting experience (preferred).Good communication skills, both written and verbal.Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to be flexible depending upon the project.Positive, team-oriented attitude and a commitment to helping a team meet its objectives in a quickly changing environment.
