This employment opportunity is with Budget, Planning and Analysis (BPA), Office of Forecasting Research and Analysis (OFRA), which is part of the Department of Human Services (DHS). There is one full-time position located in Salem. A union represents this position.
Position Overview:
This position primarily serves as our geographic information systems (GIS) analyst. Its primary responsibility is systems design with an emphasis on geographic/spatial data and resultant mapping of client/environmental interactions. This includes needs analysis, data modeling, software construction, data analysis, user support and end user training.
This position works closely with database administrators, other developers, and the state Geospatial Enterprise Office to ensure smooth integration of required data as well as the efficient functioning of the OFRA GIS work component. It also coordinates software development to create a seamless, standard set of tools for analysts and forecasters. This position will plan and develop the GIS capability and functionality within OFRA, and then maintain/improve appropriate databases, data systems, and software for regional analyses.
This position secondarily supports the research function of the department by collecting data, analyzing and interpreting the data, and reporting findings in written reports and presentations for forecasting team members, DHS program staff and policy makers. This position participates in strategic planning by SDA’s and other regional entities, leads and coordinates projects as needed, and consults with and trains staff.
This position performs duties in a manner which promotes customer service and harmonious working relationships, including treating all persons courteously and respectfully. It engages in effective team participation through a willingness to assist and support co-workers, supervisors, and other work related associations, and contributes to a positive, respectful, and productive work place.

Salary: $3,654 - $5,276 Monthly
