Horticulturist

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and Facilities Management invite applications for a Horticulturist to maintain and trim gardens and other bed areas to promote their health and appearance.  Situated on the east side of the Mississippi River in the St. Louis Metropolitan area, SIUE is located on nearly 2700 acres in a park-like setting.

 

A bachelor’s degree in forestry, horticulture, biology, or related field with one year of work experience in a supervisory capacity on landscape construction or maintenance is required.  Six years of work experience as it pertains to horticulture, gardening or professional landscaper is preferred. Applicant must have a thorough knowledge of methods, materials and tools used in gardening or landscaping.  General knowledge of different species of plants and their growing characteristics is also required.

 

Starting salary:  $16.96 per hour
