Farm Manager / Production Agriculture

Black Gold is a progressive and innovative agriculture company specializing in potato production. The Company has been in operation for over 75 years and is continually growing, adding new locations constantly. Currently, Black Gold has 11 locations in 9 states. Black Gold harvests over 14,000 acres of potatoes each year. The Company is one of the largest suppliers of chipping potatoes for Frito Lay, Jay’s and many other potato chip manufacturers.

 

Black Gold Farms is looking for a Farm Manager for its Rhodesdale, Maryland location. Responsibilities of this position include:

1.       Coordinating and leading a staff of regular and temporary employees.

2.       Completing and compiling records on the crops and land.

3.       Determining planting, fertilizing, scouting, irrigating and spraying schedules.

4.       Directing harvest operations.

5.       Conducting off-season activities, such as land contract negotiating.

 

Experience desired in irrigation, farm equipment operation, general maintenance, basic agronomy, Microsoft software programs and supervision of employees. The candidate will be highly motivated, have good organizational skills and maintain a positive work environment. Production agriculture and management experience is required. Potato experience is not necessary.
