Ecotoxicologist

Based in FMC Corporation’s Princeton, NJ Research Center this key R&D role is available because of continued expansion of business focus in this area. In this key position, you will be able to utilize your knowledge and experience, to further develop your career. This role is for an ecological toxicologist to provide technical expertise to internal scientific/business teams and/or regulatory authorities to support appropriate regulatory decisions for successful registration, re-registration and/or label expansion of FMC products and emerging chemistries worldwide in Agricultural Products. The successful candidate will require a working knowledge of ecotoxicology study types and experimental design, interpretation of data and application to risk assessments, and potential regulatory impacts of results, to meet global regulatory agency requirements. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Maintains a current awareness of developments in regulatory science through data mining, participation in Industry Task Forces, Trade Associations and/or professional conferences. • Serves as corporate expert on ecology, the interpretation/utility of ecotoxicology data to support global registrations, ecological risk assessment, regulatory ecotoxicology study guidelines, experimental design, GLP and regulatory compliance issues. • Ability to pursue numerous high priority tasks/projects simultaneously. • Productive interactions with external laboratories and contract research organizations. • Understands the connections between several scientific disciplines (e.g., residue, metabolism, e-fate, risk assessment, toxicology) to assist FMC to identify and/or make informed decisions about new products, new growth opportunities, or to defend critical uses for existing products. • Works with senior toxicology, residue chemistry and risk assessment team members on supporting all projects and initiatives.
Job Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: • Advanced understanding of ecology, chemical fate and transport processes. • Designing and conducting ecotoxicology studies to address regulatory requirements in the U.S. and other regulatory agencies globally. • Prior industrial or regulatory experience and a broad understanding of the global agricultural chemical market are desirable. • Must be competent with all aspects of report preparation, which includes background research, data evaluation, report writing, table preparation and deliverable completion with intermittent review by team leaders. • Travel-up to 15%. EDUCATION: Entry level Ph.D. or Masters Degree in Environmental Toxicology, Environmental Sciences, or equivalent with 3-5 years experience in conducting or monitoring ecotoxicology studies conducted under GLP in an industrial or regulatory setting.
