This person would be responsible for the development of policies, procedures and objectives for the procurement of inventory and non-inventory materials and supplies including packing materials, ingredients, spices and operating supplies for the organization. Explores options for improvements in product sourcing management, cost management, and problem resolution.  

Essential Duties:

 1) Business redevelopment – to further reduce cost in the Farmland supply chain by working with production schedulers, plant purchasing personnel and operations.

2) Contract negotiation – to lower first cost of purchased goods. Review all purchasing arrangements with vendors on an annual or semi-annual basis.

3) Vendor rationalization – to develop better relations with our vendor community with the expectation of improving cost and/or service.

4) Employee development – realize full potential of employees to maximize value to the organization through training, educating and motivating in a positive, proactive manner. Manages all positions within the Corporate Purchasing department while providing leadership and direction to Plant Purchasing employees who report directly to Plant Managers.

5) Responsible for contracting approximately $600 million in direct and indirect supplies. Manages $20 million in inventory and supplies for the corporate headquarters and plants. This position works with 200+ vendors, 4 direct reports, and 30 indirect reports.•



Qualifications:

 •Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Agri-business; 8 plus years purchasing experience in a multiple facility organization and 5 years of personnel management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills .
•The ability to work through complex, unstructured problems .
•Capable of communicating and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, in both written and oral formats .
•High level of written and oral communication skills, organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability .
•Must have extensive knowledge of production planning within an ERP or MPS system.
•May travel up to 25% of the time to plant and vendor locations
