Cost Accountant

Dole Fresh Vegetables, based in Monterey, California, is the nation's leading producer of packaged salads as well as a major grower and harvester of vegetable commodity products. Support the accounting functions related to approximately $200 million of annual value-added vegetable costs. Cost components include raw material purchases, harvest labor, packaging materials and freight. In addition, the raw materials team will support the value-added and commodity businesses by providing key operating data used to develop strategic sourcing plans. Ensure that financial reports accurately reflect all related activity and support the finance group to ensure that all deadlines are achieved related to the period end close. In addition, support the various product managers with detailed analysis as required.'X Develop value-added raw material requirements from periodic sales forecasts and annual budgets'X Develop raw materials cost assumptions for the annual budget 'X Review periodic financial statements and explain variances to estimates and budgets 'X Prepare presentation materials for weekly sourcing meetings and quarterly reviews'X Provide planning, accounting and analytical support for harvest administration functions'X Provide detailed analysis regarding sales forecasts, volumes and product costing 'X Assist in the development of sourcing strategies, yield analysis and harvest forecast models'X Provide analytical support for cost savings and revenue enhancement initiatives'X Outside labor cost analysisREQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:EDUCATION: B.A. in accounting, finance or related field.SKILLS: Excellent oral and written communication skills, extremely strong PC and mainframe skills including working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and JD Edwards software EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years cost accounting/financial analysis experience required RESPOND HERE!
