Dole Fresh Vegetables, based in Monterey, California, is the nation's leading producer of packaged salads as well as a major grower and harvester of vegetable commodity products. Part of the MRO Purchasing Group. Primary responsibilities include:'X Manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, develop bid packages, analyze proposals to ensure best possible price, quality, and lead-times for purchased materials'X Process purchase requisitions and purchase orders in an automated purchasing system 'X Resolve shipping problems including disposition of defective items and expedition of orders'X Develop sourcing strategies, determine alternative sources of supply, and initiate cost reduction projects'X Other duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION: EDUCATION: AA Degree required, BA/BS preferred. SKILLS: Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Requires a participative team player with excellent negotiation and communication skills. Excellent computer skills, including heavy Excel use. EXPERIENCE: Three to five years directly related experience, preferably in a procurement environment for a large manufacturing or distribution company and knowledge of J D Edwards preferred.
