Accounting Manager

Based in the NW suburb of Minneapolis, our company is now interviewing for a position to manage our Accounting / Finance and Administration

We are the US subsidiary of a French company with operations in over 120 countries and are considered a world leader in the field of Life Sciences.  Compensation package includes competitive salary plus company paid medical and dental as well as 401(k) plan and yearly bonus program.  

Responsibilities or overseeing duties include but are not limited to:

- Performs assigned accounting functions requiring the application of basic accounting practices and policies.

- Monitors and corrects accounting errors on a daily basis.

- Inputs Headquarter’s invoices

- Prepares and records intercompany balances and in-transit invoices as well as asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.

- Input cash receipts for credit cards / wire transfers and ACH deposits

- Maintains and balances accounts by verifying, allocating,  posting, reconciling transactions; resolving discrepancies.

- Handles employee expenses

- Maintains general ledger.

- Bank & Cash Reconciliations

- Prepares monthly sales report and YTD - Monthly, quarterly and annual closings;

- Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget as well as inventory valuation

- Product-line profitability analysis.

- Coordinates monthly close and preparation of reporting package schedules.

- Prepares and assists with balance sheet reconciliation review .

- Financial statement preparation, including accruals and balancing on a monthly basis, actual vs. budget variance analysis, discrepancy research and resolution

- Work with external auditors to prepare and review financial statements;

- Assists in evaluating auditor's comments and developing action plans to resolve open issues

- Prepares consolidation package for overseas headquarters.

- Prepares other ad hoc reports and data analysis.

- Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of  departments.

- Assist in annual budgeting

- Answers account management questions related to client invoices.

- Review payroll information and input in General Ledger.

- Strengthens and maintains efficiency of the accounting function through review and documentation of processes and procedures as well as implementation of process improvements and improvement of information to customers.

- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements.

Special projects as assigned to support the growth of the company such as implementation of analytical accounting, review of internal controls and potential process improvement.

 

Supervise 2 employees in A/P and A/R.

 

The successful candidate may also, in the short-term administer the following areas, in coordination with our Office Manager.

Payroll processing (ADP)

Human Ressources administration (interface with outside provider, or with BCBS)

Corporate insurance liaison

Processing tax payment s to the IRS and State of Minnesota

Wire transfer between bank accounts and to corporate Headquarters

Employee Credit Card Program Manager with US Bank One Card program.

 

The ideal candidate will  at the minimum possess the following:BA in Accounting, and 4-8 years related work experience with any applicable Management experience.

Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Attention to detail, analytical, problem-solving, curious, accurate

Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.

Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting

Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Highly self-motivated self -starter

Ability to multi-task and produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.

Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings. 

Strong PC skills with good knowledge of MS Office Applications

Experience with Open Systems’ Traverse ERP and foreign language a plus.

Knowledge of depreciation and tax preparation a plus.
