Advanced Technologist 5 Position Description The Networked Systems Technology (NST) organization in Phantom Works, the central R&D organization in the Boeing Company, invites applications for a research position as Advanced Information Technologist. We are interested in innovative researchers with interests and extensive experience in machine learning with a strong background in statistics, probability, and mathematics and with strong programming skills. The successful applicant will be expected take a leadership role in the appropriate application of machine learning technologies to Boeing products and processes, to participate in and lead multiple technical projects, effectively work with colleagues of diverse technical backgrounds, help develop proposals for new business, interface with internal and external customers, keep abreast of new technical advances, help develop new intellectual property, and build and maintain a network of contacts and collaborators both inside and outside the company. This is a senior position with the Adaptive Systems group of the NST organization, a leader in advanced applied research in AI. Representative Major Tasks: Performs R&D of significance and value to a major program. Exhibits a high level of creativity extending new computing technology. Identifies emerging advanced computing technology of value to a major program. Evaluates and recommends technology by performing comparative analysis and trade studies. Provides subject matter expertise at the project/program level. Supports non advocate reviews. Ensures successful deployment of advanced computing technology for a project. Contributes to the creation and review of R&D proposals. Influences functional organization decision makers to use appropriate computational tools and processes. Assists in forecasting computational needs and capabilities to address future business requirements. [ + ] Project Management Recognized enterprise experience in creating comprehensive multi-tiered project schedules for significant organization, enterprise and business unit projects identifying time frames for key project milestones and ensure alignment of sub tier activities for overall project visibility, tracking and completion. Directs and manages more complex project schedules requiring interfacing with multi regional or international activities. Independently identifies project resource requirements, integrates and directs multi project elements into a single collective overall project plan. Collaborates with others on the most complex projects assigned. As an enterprise role model demonstrates ability to direct, delegate and ensure performance of assigned responsibilities and tasks as a project team leader in support of enterprise wide or extremely complex large-scale projects. Identifies and resolves any issues to ensure the successful completion of the project. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or a Master's degree with typically 12 or more years' or a PhD degree with typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
