SUMMARY Monitors the written Advance Auto Parts branding efforts in all corporate printed and electronic materials throughout the company. Acts as a contact with other departments and creates copy rules and guidelines to help ensure the internal consistency of brand-related rules and guidelines concerning written messages and style. Reviews and approves graphics and copy materials assigned to and developed by the Creative Team. Confers with heads of Creative Team and other departments to discuss requirements, scheduling, the outlines of basic presentation concepts and coordinate creative activities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Brand SupervisionManages general development and maintenance of the Advance Brand (from a written perspective), which includes creating business rules for various departments within Advance. Manages weekly, bi-weekly and quarterly meetings within the Marketing Department to ensure the Creative Team is meeting their needs and the Advance Brand is being maintained in all areas, including sports, motor sports, Internet, and consumer education. Oversees the creation and progression of the Advance Language and assures that all communication represents the Advance Brand. Supervises the advertising/creative needs of the Consumer Education Department. This includes Consumer Education involving the Internet, flexie, in-store displays and programs and community outreach. Develops and implements workshops and seminars for Team Members in order to educate them about properly using the Advance Brand and developing the Advance language within their departments. Copy SupervisionSupervises all copy related to flexies for consumer and commercial audiences to make sure they adhere to the Advance Brand. Develops and implements standards and guidelines for communications so that they represent the Advance brand. Works with Graphic Designers to develop advertising and promotional materials that represent the Advance brand both internally and externally. Consults with supervisors and/or other Team Members to evaluate individual project needs. Interviews individuals, attends meetings, and researches printed and online resources to obtain information and data for publication, verify facts, and clarify information. Acts as copy style editor to obtain information on product or service and discuss style and length of advertising copy. Reviews advertising trends, consumer surveys, and other data regarding marketing of specific and related goods and services to formulate presentation approach. Works with Director of Creative Services and Brand Development and designers to review creative strategies, develop concepts and provide creative lead from proposed copy and concept direction on various projects. Presents copy to supervisors and/or appropriate Team Members for approval, negotiates changes, and corrects and revises copy until approved. Initiates or replies to correspondence regarding material published or being considered for publication. CopywritingConcepts, writes and approves advertising copy for print, broadcast, and online media to promote the Advance Brand and the sale of goods and services of Advance Auto Parts. Writes advertising articles, collateral, direct mail materials, online copy and other related informative and promotional materials that meet Advance Auto Parts' program objectives. Writes copy for print and electronic advertising in magazines, including the FrontRunner, Advance's Team Member magazine, trade journals, newsletters, annual reports, and related publications. Writes and prints preliminary copy draft in established format to meet specified deadlines. Writes headlines and captions as requested. Reads copy to detect errors in spelling, punctuation and syntax. Other duties may be assigned. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university with three years related experience, or six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be proficient on MacIntosh computers and PC basics. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and professional journals. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of customers or employees of organizations. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
