Position Description
The tax accountant will report to the Director of Tax focusing on a variety of areas, including, but not limited to the following:Perform tax compliance functions including tax return preparation for investment vehicles and management companies, working closely with outside Big 4 accounting firm.Research tax issues and formulate opinions.Monitor portfolios and positions and work with tax director, traders and portfolio managers as to tax efficient portfolio management and trading strategies.Prepare, review and analyze models with respect to various scenarios to determine tax effect. Work closely with Client Relations Group in providing tax information to investors.Interact with tax advisors both domestically and internationally in developing tax structures and strategies.Involvement with overall process improvement and continued integration and implementation of processes and systems.
The role will be based in Chilton’s Stamford, CT office.
Candidate Description
Qualified candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years experience in public accounting or industry experience specific to hedge funds. Applicant must have knowledge of partnership tax issues, particularly as they relate to hedge funds and hedge fund structures (master-feeder, side by side, mini-master, side pockets, etc.). Applicant should also have basic knowledge of taxation of financial instruments and general familiarity with financial products and trading including stocks, bonds, options and other derivatives. Candidate must have excellent Microsoft Excel, modeling, and tax research skills and familiarity with research materials (CCH, RIA, BNA). Knowledge of Advisorware is a plus.
