Staff Internal Auditor

Rural/Metro Corporation is a leading provider of emergency and non-emergency medical transportation services, fire protection and other safety-related services to municipal, residential, commercial and industrial customers in approximately 400 communities throughout the United States.  We are currently looking for a Staff Internal Auditor to perform the following:

Responsible for the performance of Sarbanes Oxley process documentation and control testing. Assist in the performance of operational and consultative internal audits of the company’s business units. Possess strong interpersonal, listening, and problem solving skills. Maintain all organizational and professional ethical standards while working under moderate supervision with latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

Essential Functions:

Perform Sarbanes Oxley control testing of the company’s key financial reporting processes;

Update existing process documentation of key financial reporting processes for Sarbanes Oxley requirements;

Conduct interviews, review documentation for testing, prepare summary memos, and prepare workpapers in line with departmental protocol;

Develop and maintain productive staff relationships through individual contacts and group meetings;

Perform audit work plan procedures, including identifying and defining issues, developing criteria, reviewing and analyzing evidence, and documenting departmental processes and procedures;

Pursue professional development opportunities, including external and internal training and professional association memberships, and share information gained with co-workers;

Perform additional special projects as assigned by audit management.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field from an accredited college or university.

1 - 3 years of full-time experience in auditing, accounting, or business analysis. (Public accounting and/or internal audit experience a plus).

Proficiency in MS Office products (including Visio).

Skills:

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong attention to detail.

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).

Experience with the current Sarbanes Oxley requirements.

Team player with strong interpersonal, listening, and problem solving skills.
