Staff Accountant - Accounts Payable
Candidate must be detail-oriented with experience in preparing and processing monthly accounting transactions and assisting a Controller in the monthly close of the accounting books and maintaining sound financials and internal controls. Ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of excel, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger. Candidate must be highly organized, reliable, and possess exceptional time management skills. Successful candidate will have knowledge of or experience with General Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP). Candidate will coordinate accounting activity with management and other staff members in order to provide current and accurate financial information.
Specific tasks required of candidate will include invoice processing and verification, expense coding, preparing payment checks, posting, accounts payable and cash receipts processing, verification of receipts, credit claims, and processing of employee expense vouchers. Other duties will include managing petty cash distribution, documentation, and reimbursement, assistance in general ledger accounts reconciliation on a monthly basis, maintenance of an adequate and complete filing system for A/P. Candidate will also assist in preparing audit schedules and reports as well as other duties as assigned by the Controller or Business Manager.
Skills/Experience:
Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, and Word a must.
Some experience using multi-user accounting software is required; familiarity with Blackbaud a plus.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting with three years' experience highly desired, but Associates degree with five years of accounting experience is acceptable
Strong attention to detail needed.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles a must.
