The Timber Hill group of companies are the proprietary trading units of IBG LLC, an international group of companies involved in proprietary trading and customer brokerage in securities and derivatives.[1] The company emphasizes effective utilization of technology to further its position as a leading Market Maker in exchange-listed equity derivatives securities.
Overall Description:
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the month-end processing and reconciliation of the monthly consolidation in Oracle Financials for IBG LLC and Interactive Brokers Group, Inc.; generating reports for monthly financial reporting package; post-consolidation elimination difference review and reporting; processing intercompany paydowns; ad hoc projects; documenting procedures; and assisting in interim, exchange and year-end audits.
On a daily basis, the Senior Accountant will assist in the reporting, review and analysis of our North American proprietary trading operations and corporate operations. Responsibilities include review of cash reconciliations prepared by other staff, trading expense (brokerage, clearing and exchange fees), accounting and analysis, preparation and approval of daily intercompany transactions, stock borrow and loan analysis and review of accounts payable disbursements. At month-end the senior accountant will be responsible for the preparation and processing of intercompany charges and reconciling the related balances, reconciling trading dividends; accounts payable, compensation and benefits and other expense accrual recording and analysis. The Senior Accountant is also expected to assist the Timber Hill Accounting Manager in the month-end review process, including cash reconciliations, fixed assets and financing.
In addition to the proprietary trading entities, the Senior Accountant will be further responsible for recording, reconciling and reporting monthly activity for Interactive Brokers Group, Inc., our publicly owned holding company and for IBG Holdings LLC, a separate holding company for non-public ownership interests.
This position is located at the IBG headquarters office in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Qualified candidates will have in-depth knowledge of:
Ø U.S. GAAP Financial Accounting and Reporting
Ø P&L and Balance Sheet Accounting and Reporting
Ø Financial Statement Analysis
Ø Consolidation processing and reporting
Ø Bank Reconciliations, Accounts Payable, Fixed Asset Accounting, Prepaid Expenses and Other Receivables/Payables
Ø Intercompany processing and reporting
Qualifications:
Ø 3 plus years of experience in a Senior Accounting role
Ø Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Ø Certified Public Accountant (Audit/Assurance), a plus
Other Specific Skills & Knowledge:
Ø Proficiency in the operation and use of automated accounting systems. Recent experience with Oracle Financials (ver. 11.5.9 or higher), a plus.
Ø Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, including complex/compound spreadsheets.
Ø Advanced problem solving skills
Ø Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently within a team environment
Ø Knowledge of international financial markets, securities and F/X trading, a plus
