Operational Risk Lead

Description:The mandate of the Operational Risk Management team is to set the standards for operational risk while monitoring, identifying, analyzing, measuring and controlling potential operational losses. The department encompasses business-line operational risk leaders and the fraud team. All of these functions work together performing reviews, assessments and investigations aimed at identifying, measuring and mitigating the risks to the institution raised by new products, new or changed activities, existing processes and systems.The Operational Risk Lead is responsible for assisting in the administration of the Operational Risk Management program, conduct all reporting for Operational Risk department needs, and assist in policy development and development activities to improve and lead to better management insight of the operational risks. She/he will coordinate and report on all business line operational risk issues of ING DIRECT.Essential Functions:* Ensure proper functioning and development of operational risk framework, including Key Risk Indicators, Incident Reporting, Risk and Control Self Assessments, Action Tracking and ensure they are aligned with ING Group NV guidelines.* Ensure the proper and complete delivery of President's report, quarterly risk management reporting and quarterly RAROC reporting.* Work with other functions, such as IT Risk Management, Compliance and Security to complete Non Financial Risk reporting.* Develop timely and complete monthly Operational Risk Committee reporting.* Act as liaison with ING DIRECT NV on the Operational Risk framework and ensure proper follow-up of all ING Scorecard efforts.* Conduct Risk and Control Self Assessments and targeted business reviews as needed.* Collaborate and partner with key business stakeholder to ensure risk management involvement and influence in decision-making.* Contribute to raising operational risk awareness throughout the organization by developing presentations, newsletters, e-learning modules, etc.* Create better insight into the costs associated with operational risk enabling earlier and better mitigation actions.* Develop and maintain a risk based new product review process that also encompasses business change management activities* Develop new standards, methodologies and tools to report and analyze operational risk information.* Be a key contributor in developing operational risk strategy and vision.* Create better insight into the costs associated with operational risk enabling earlier and better mitigation actions.* Look for areas of enhancing a proactive operational risk monitoring system.* Keep abreast of the changes in Basel II, OTS, Dutch National Bank and emerging operational risk topics and practices.* Work on special projects in all facets of Risk Management as assigned by the Chief Risk Officer or Head of Operational Risk.Qualifications:* Minimum of 6-8 years related work experience in a banking or finance environment in risk management, audit, finance, operations, customer service or legal.* Minimum 2-3 years experience in an operational risk role* Strong understanding of risk management principles* Ability to be adaptable and flexible while responding to deadlines on assignments and workflow fluctuations.* Ability to work with concepts, independently and through other people* Excellent problem diagnosis, analytical and communication skills.* Ability to balance several conflicting demands to achieve optimum services performance with minimum disruption to business operations.Education and/or Certifications:* An Undergraduate degree from an accredited University, specialization in finance, accounting or economics* Advanced degree, working towards an advanced degree or industry certifications a plusTechnical skills and abilities:* Proficiency in PC applications, especially Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Acrobat.* Sound data analysis skills in order to extract data from many sources and translating this data into useful information.* Microsoft Sharepoint experience a plus.Working Conditions:* 8:30 - 5:30 M-F. * Very limited travel expectedSalary/Benefits: Salary commensurate with experienceING DIRECT offers one of the best benefits plans around, providing medical and dental health coverage; flexible spending accounts; 401K retirement plans and fitness programs.Job Location: Wilmington, DEJob Number: 6054Company Profile:Why join the ING DIRECT team?
