Medical Coder Needed Here in Boynton Beach

Must have Home Heathcare experience - Must be a Certified Medical Coder

Medical Records Coder specializes in medical record coding using established healthcare information standards (classifications, guides, practices, terminology) systems to code medical date.  This position also includes use of computer programs to tabulate and analyze date to improve patient care, control costs, provide documentation for use in legal actions, respond to surveys for use in research studies.

 

1.  Ensures all client information necessary for billing is entered into the Clinical Data System (CDS.) Completes data entry of information as needed and coordinates data entry of others.

 

2.  Prepares reports based on statistical data as requested, weekly, monthly, quarterly.

 

3.  Abstracts in detail and completes case abstracts from the patients’ medical records using knowledge of classification and nomenclature, anatomy, medical terminology.

 

4.  Assigns codes (i.e., ICD-9-CM ) to the OASIS for reimbursement/case-mix analysis using proper code sequencing.

 

5.  Provides medical record data for infection control and quality assurance data collection.

 

6.  Runs CMS OBQI-OBQM reports quarterly and sends them electronically to each Administrator and other designated Vice Presidents and Directors.

 

7.  Completes analysis of OBQI-OBQM reports with benchmarking of outcomes as recommended by state QIO agencies.

 

8.  Abstracts and enters records as they are completed and/or by deadline dates as established by the Supervisor.

 

9.  Reports coding problems to the appropriate Nurse, Administrator, and proper Director or Vice President after evaluation.

 

Skills/Qualifications:

Medicare/Medicaid, Nursing home/ Home Health experience, Hippa Laws, Microsoft Excel, team player
