Manager of Financial Reporting

Summary

 

We are seeking an experienced accounting professional to lead the financial reporting and compliance functions of a $9 billion Los Angeles based NYSE company.  We havei over 200 locations in 38 states, Belgium, Canada, China, South Korea and the United Kingdom.  We have grown significantly through acquisitions over the past several years and plan to continue this growth pattern.  This position will be responsible for various tasks within our accounting and finance department.  The primary areas of focus will be compliance with technical accounting issues and SEC reporting requirements, assisting with the our Sarbanes-Oxley compliance program and working with outside auditors. This position will also aid in other internal management reporting and various other ad hoc projects.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Responsible for preparing complete and accurate initial drafts of documents for periodic filings with Securities and Exchange Commission including Quarterly Reports on Form 10-Q, Annual Reports on Forms 10-K and 11-K.   Responsible for the accounting related to stock-based compensation including use of the Company’s equity tracking software, valuation, disclosures and analysis related to stock-based compensation. Perform accounting research including researching new accounting standards using research software tools, implementing processes to comply with new accounting standards and documenting conclusions in written format. Manage the monthly consolidation process in Hyperion Financial Management. Review consolidation and elimination entries and prepare consolidation package for review by Senior Group Controller and Corporate Controller.Manage the preparation and review of the monthly financial statement packages distributed to management and the Board.  Also, assist with the monthly review and analysis of consolidated financial statements.Work with external auditors.  This will involve preparing documents requested by auditors and reviewing work performed by others for external auditors.  Assist the Group Controllers with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts through follow-up with various subsidiary and division personnel to ensure compliance with agreed upon action items from their audits of controls over financial reporting.Work with subsidiary personnel to complete self-assessments of their controls over financial reporting.Assist the Group Controllers with acquisition accounting, including preliminary purchase price allocations, compilation and review of the data provided to third party valuation specialists, and review of the drafts of the valuation reports provided by the third party valuation specialists.

 

Job Qualifications:

 Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA strongly preferred.Background should include at least 3 years working for a Big 4 public accounting firm or another major firm with a minimum of 5 years of overall work experience.  Strong background in SEC reporting is required including either heavy experience with multiple SEC clients while working in public accounting or current responsibility for producing SEC documents for a public company.  Knowledge of technical accounting pronouncements in areas such as FAS 123R and acquisition related topics is highly preferred.  Good working knowledge of Hyperion Financial Management software is desired.  Effective written and communication skills are a must.  This person will be writing accounting research memos and assisting with the preparation of SEC documents on a regular basis and must be able to effectively and efficiently document findings and complete tasks.  Verbal communication skills must also be strong as this position requires regular interaction with accounting and operational staff as well as various levels of management.Ability to work well in a deadline oriented environment with the willingness to work extended hours, if necessary. Ability to handle extremely confidential, sensitive matters with utmost professionalism and discretion.
