Job Posting ID: 1350Working Location: Washington, DCEmployment Type: Full-Time RegularPosition Summary:The position is assist the VP of Financial Reporting with complex technical accounting issues, including revenue recognition, leases, income taxes etc.This position will be responsible for:• Monitoring the activities of all accounting standard setting bodies, i.e FASB, SEC, AICPA, EITF, etc. and evaluate the effect on the Company;• Drafting white papers, positions papers on the Company’s position around technical accounting topics.• Planning, directing and coordinating research of technical accounting issues related to the Company, and discussions with its outside auditors regarding the company’s evaluation of technically complex transactions; • Providing technical accounting support to our business units in their assessment of accounting issues; • Monitoring and updating corporate accounting policies;• Participating in external reporting and ensuring public disclosure is complete and accurate; • Consulting with independent auditors on accounting matters and disclosure requirements as required; • Creating and presenting different training and GAAP update courses to accounting staff and upper management• Support and assist the preparation of SEC filings, 10Q's and 10K's• Assisting with various special projects and supporting other Finance functions as necessary.Minimum Requirements:• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a major in accounting or finance.• Five + years of demonstrated financial reporting, accounting and accounting research experience.• Thorough working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC and other accounting and reporting standards.• Experience researching and developing technical accounting positions• CPA certification requiredRequired Experience: 5 yearsRequired Education: Bachelors DegreeTravel Required: NoTravel Percentage: 0FLSA: ExemptDepartment Name: Financial ReportingRelocation Provided: No.
