General Ledger Accountant





Freixenet, one of the most renowned and largest cava house in Spain, is looking for a General Ledger Accountant. Under the direction of the Controller, this position is primarily responsible for general account support by performing and maintaining various accounting functions including inventory costing, monthly closing, fixed asset maintenance and financial statement preparation.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Inventory Costing:
• Maintain and reconcile detail inventory costing system
• Review and reconcile import costing
• Maintain general ledger inventory costs

Fixed Asset Maintenance:
• Monthly reconciliation of fixed asset activity
• Maintain BNA detail reconciled to general ledger
• Reconcile and maintain Construction in Progress detail

Financial Reporting:
• Prepare monthly closing entries and accruals
• Monthly general ledger account reconciliations and analysis
• Reconcile intra-company accounts
• Monthly preparation of government reporting
• General review of balance sheet and income statement in conjunction with monthly analysis
• Ensure proper accounting for various general ledger related activity

Other:
• Assists with annual budgeting and forecasting
• Participate in year end audit preparation
• Assist in documenting and maintaining policies and procedures associated with the finance department and monthly close process
• Special projects as needed
 


QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in accounting or related field with 4 - 6 years experience.
• CPG/manufacturing or beverage alcohol industry experience preferred.  Standard cost accounting a plus.
• Experience in preparing for annual audits and working with internal and external auditors.
• High proficiency in MS Excel & Word.  AMS & BNA fixed asset software a plus.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Strong organizational/prioritization skills, attention to details and adherence to deadlines.
