GENERAL LEDGER ACCOUNTANT JOB OPENING

Established transportation company is seeking a qualified and proactive General Ledger Accountant to join our team.

 

About the Opportunity

 

Reporting directly to the Controller, this position will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of all General Ledger accounts. The General Ledger Accountant is expected to assist heavily in the month end close process, including all G/L reconciliation, and provide outstanding levels of attention to detail, communication, organization, and analytical skills.

 

 

Major Responsibilities:

-  Integral role in month end close, including preparation of various journal entries, monthly accruals, and related reports

-  Reconcile and audit all general ledger accounts

-  Review and prepare account analysis, accrual calculations, allocations and other related schedules

-  Analyze Regional reports for accuracy and consistency

-  Provide timely financial analysis of specific accounts

-  Perform month end variance and trend analysis

-  Maintain Balance Sheet schedules, audit schedules and reconciliations

-  Assist with monthly internal financial statement review

-  Assistance with documenting, automation, and streamlining of existing accounting procedures

-  Takes initiative to improve the quality and accuracy of reporting through analysis

-  Functions as a team member to work cooperatively with others to achieve assignment goals and objectives

 

Requirements:

-  BS in Accounting/Finance with at least 3 years of progressive accounting experience

-  Solid knowledge of GAAP and general ledger

-  Strong attention to detail

-  Outstanding analytical skills

-  Strong interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication skills

-  Work ethic based on a strong desire to exceed expectations

-  Excellent computer skills, Great Plains experience a plus
