This position is based at Kaiser Permanentes Headquarters in Oakland, CA.Corporate Planning is in the business of providing overall planning processes (i.e., Business Performance Analysis, Forecast, Business Plan and Budget, Strategic Plan, and Capital Planning. Corporate Planning provides objective, thoughtful information, analysis and counsel, enabling Kaiser Permanentes senior leadership to make objective, informed decisions, and to achieve profitable growth. Key clients of the Corporate Planning department include the Board of Directors, National Leadership Team (NLT), Regional Presidents Group (RPG), Kaiser Permanente Partnership Group (KPPG), and the leaders of the NLT and Shared Services groups.The position exists to improve Program level and regional performance by:- Lead in managing the planning process of Kaiser Permanente at a Program level;- Lead in managing the strategic process and business performance of Kaiser Permanente at a Program level; and- Provide financial planning support to Functional Senior Vice Presidents and the CEO.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES - Assess the business performance of KP, lead the analysis in the market context of competitive pressures, business challenges, and help the company focus on prioritizing initiatives and activities that creates value to the organization.- Prepare and convey presentations for financial and business leaders to include senior management.- Consult with and develop collaborative approaches to achieve uniformity of performance data and performance measurement or support of appropriate infrastructure and gain insight into program, division, and regional issues or opportunities and build a positive working relationship.- Consult with clients to identify and advise on performance improvement opportunities.- Develop responses to urgent ad hoc and routine reporting request to meet the information requirements of Kaiser Permanente senior management and the Board of Directors, and external agencies and organizations for critical financial or operational analyses.- Identify sources of data, input and influence the procurement of data, at divisional and regional market levels, to support performance measurement and analysis efforts. Serve in an integrating role between departments and functions to build organizational capacity in measurement and analytic areas. Responsible for working to improve data quality and collection processes and design reports and/or analysis to meet diverse and changing needs for management information.- Develop, refine, streamline, and improve performance metrics, measurement methods and performance targets using standardized definitions. Advise clients on keeping measures aligned with strategic initiatives and when possible with industry standards or benchmarks.- Develop financial models and methodology, collect and evaluate data, make appropriate assumptions, analyze results and make recommendations. Research and prepare evaluations on a variety of project/problems to include financial, statistical, operational and cost-benefit analyses. The candidate must be able to articulate the rationale for the methodology chosen.- Develop, design, and manage program-wide data systems to streamline Corporate Planning processes by identifying system requirements, developing specifications of data, determining the most efficient means to store and easily retrieve data, overseeing processes for entering and maintaining data, and determining access guidelines to data and avoid duplication of efforts. At times, assume sole responsibility of certain analytical projects under limited supervision.- Through consultation with Functional and Shared Services clients, build their expertise to identify meaningful management data and reports for business planning and budgeting, forecast, strategic planning and business performance and foster comparative data collection by bringing those clients together to develop consistent approaches.- Using business/financial analytical skills, data collection activities and interviews with various content experts and business leaders, analyze internal and external business trends with an eye toward helping senior management to better understand and to act on emerging business trends. Examples would include assisting with benchmarking assessments versus comparable companies, analyzing profitability and cash flow trends, and analyzing operational statistics.- Through analysis and observations, develop messages for senior management (market views, snapshots or stories) that emerge from the market assessments based on local market and national business trends. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - Bachelors degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Business Administration, Applied Mathematics, Social Science, Public Health, Health Care Economics, Statistics (with a quantitative emphasis), or equivalent experience required. Masters degree highly preferred.- Typically 5 to 8 years of directly related experience with analytically challenging projects to include 2 years of financial analysis, financial modeling, benchmark studies and/or project management experience highly preferred. Prior experience in consulting, project management is also a strong plus.- Must have demonstrable experience analyzing, modeling and forecasting financial data, including a thorough understanding of financial statement construction and analysis. Experience in budgeting and long range planning is a plus. Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting rules and practices a plus. - Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel and Power Point.- Strong communication skills highly preferred.
