The Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the processes that will assist leaders in making strategic and operational data-based decisions by delivering timely, accurate and relevant data analysis and financial information.  This position supports the processes that produce the strategic financial plan, budgets, forecasts, and monthly analysis of results, cost/utilization trends, and KPIs related to one or more of the company’s operations.  This position has the potential for moving into a senior financial analyst role. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop, build and analyze financial models, business line and geographic profitability analyses; present results of analysis to financial and business leaders including senior management. Track and report comparisons to analogous public companies for key financial and operational performance and valuation metrics Assist in coordinating and executing annual budget and monthly forecasting process including providing a monthly review of actual results to forecast with regular updates to the Company’s forecast model.  Continual evaluation of results against plan for income, cash, and risk-based capital needs. Review month-end financial reports, construct financial statements, provide variance analysis, research financial irregularities, and use the analysis to develop meaningful financial reporting, including completion within the requested timeframes. Provide necessary pro-formas to evaluate business opportunities as necessary. Analyze monthly healthcare revenue and cost trends including utilization by market and specialty, PMPMs and gross dollar changes. Participate in the data base tracking and management, development and maintenance of performance metrics, measurements, methods, and targets. Assist with identifying performance improvement opportunities. Provide ongoing management consulting on the use and interpretation of analysis, reports, methodologies, systems and source data. Work closely with Finance management to improve financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes. Other duties as assigned. Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily in a deadline-oriented environment.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Education and/or experience: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field. 3-5 years relevant experience, including experience with healthcare, budgeting and an understanding of IBNR. 5 years financial reporting or modeling experience. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, and SQL. Excellent communication skills both oral and written. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently perform individual tasks within a project. Medicare Advantage experience is helpful, but not required.
