Executive Director

Executive Director, Nonprofit Research Corporation:  

VA Connecticut Research and Education Foundation (VACREF) is seeking an Executive Director.  VACREF is a Connecticut nonprofit corporation established to support research at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System in West Haven.  The ED will oversee operations and ensure compliance with board directives, and applicable grantor, state and federal requirements.   The position reports to the VACREF Board of Directors.  Responsibilities include: Financial management (annual revenue more than $3 million) Human resource management Grants and contracts management (negotiating research agreements; post-award management) Providing information, advice and counsel to the Board

The ideal candidate is an experienced, innovative manager with a strong background in financial management, strategic planning and the technical aspects of managing a nonprofit organization.  Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills are essential.

A bachelors degree or higher is required, with a business-related major expected.  An MBA degree is strongly preferred.  Must have a minimum of 5 years related experience (7-10+ years preferred), preferably in business, healthcare, or not-for-profit management.
