Director of Finance and Administration
The Washington State Association of Counties (WSAC) is a private not-for-profit corporation that provides legislative advocacy and professional services to member counties in Washington State.
Overview:
The Director of Finance and Administration manages the accounting and finance, information technology, and human resource functions of the association. The position also provides accounting and finance support to the WSAC Financial Services Corporation, a for-profit subsidiary of WSAC, and the Washington Counties Building Partnership. The position reports directly to the Executive Director and supervises a staff of 2 employees.
Responsibilities:
· Preparation of financial statements, forecasting, financial analysis and budgeting. Provides backup for all accounting functions including A/P, A/R, GL, Payroll and Billing.
· Works with management and key members to develop the annual budget. Ensures that the budget is aligned with the business development goals of the association.
· Establishes and maintains accounting practices, controls and reporting to ensure accurate and reliable data necessary for business operations.
· Board of Directors: prepares and presents board financials, coordinates meetings and prepares materials, and assists with board governance.
· Cash reserves management.
· Manages annual external audit process.
· Local, state and federal compliance reporting.
· Manages the association’s information technology plan applying best practices.
· Human Resource management.
· Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Skill Requirements:
· 7+ years of experience in accounting and financial management; 2-3 years public accounting and/or not-for- profit background strongly preferred.
· An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
· CPA, CMA, or CFM Certification preferred.
· Expert in Excel and experience with MS Office products.
· Experienced with accounting applications; MIP not-for-profit accounting software preferred.
· Highest level of confidentiality.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Must be highly organized with superior attention to details.
· Decision-making skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members.
· Experience managing staff.
· Ability to effectively manage outside and internal resources.
