Cost Accountant / Financial Specilaist

Oceanside Glasstile is seeking a Cost Accountant/Financial Analyst to be responsible for establishing and leading a robust cost accounting function for a rapidly growing international manufacturer / distributor serving the luxury tile segment of the hard surfaces industry. The incumbent will be a key member of the company’s financial team providing regular product cost analyses and guidance to the company’s manufacturing, sales and product development organizations. This position will also be responsible for a number of other key financial duties, including certain business analyses, financial planning and forecasting, budgeting and other important financial duties. The incumbent must have proven product costing experience in a manufacturing environment and be fully capable of developing this function to a high level of value and proficiency. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Product Costing• Lead the company in developing and implementing appropriate product costing methodologies• Work with manufacturing to analyze production metrics and identify relevant cost variables • Establish ongoing systems for accumulating production costs and relevant statistics• Verify and ensure accuracy of manufacturing data in company ERP system for product BOMs, routings and resource groups, etc. • Calculate standard product costs and monitor actual manufacturing performance against standards • Conduct periodic secondary product cost studies to ensure integrity of existing cost standards• Work with US and Mexico controllers to analyze and validate inventory values and cost of goods sold calculations generated by ERP system and entered into company financial statements• Analyze cost variances to assess validity of product costing methods, manufacturing assumptions and inventory valuations • Assist company material management team in the proper costing of imported and subcontracted products distributed by company • Perform cost-volume-profit analyses to determine sales breakeven points• Provide suggestions and guidance to management, production staff and product development team on ways to improve product / production costs• Work with company product development team to project profitability and return on investment for new product offerings and line extensions• Create product profit & loss statements and calculate working capital funding requirements• Provide company sales and marketing teams with sales bid / project cost and gross margin analyses Financial Analysis & Forecasting • Prepare various detailed business analyses and financial forecasts • Work with CFO to develop and update company five year financial outlook• Structure business cases in various company financial models to determine profit, cash flow, balance sheet, funding requirements and other outcomes• Prepare periodic analyses of selected company activities and business operations• Create reports for management summarizing performance of company against various strategic metrics, goals and objectives• Analyze product and business line sales data on month, year-to-date, and year over year basis• Conduct periodic studies of product sales by type, color, customer, region and channel• Create profitability reports for business segments, product lines, customers and other business breakouts • Develop analyses of financing proposals and other funding alternatives • Prepare periodic financial examinations and return on investment analyses for company manufacturing and other operational projects• Develop special sales and business reports for various company departments on an as needed basis Budgeting• Coordinate annual company budgeting process and periodic updates• Work with US and Mexico controllers and department heads to interpret budget requirements and manage budget compilation process • Prepare budget templates, expense histories and instructions for company departments• Review incoming budgets and compile information into consolidated company budget• Analyze, adjust and amend budget assumptions and related data to ensure budgets are realistic and consistent with trends, company strategies, etc.• On monthly basis, prepare company budget vs. actual spending reports for management• Prepare monthly budget expense reports for company department heads WORKING CONDITIONS:• Physical: Sedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature.• Environment: Well-lit, climate controlled office setting. • Equipment: fax, computer, copy machine, printer, phonesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:• Bachelor’s Degree in business or accounting.• Ability to work independently, make senior decisions and effectively communicate and influence all levels of company staff and management.• Experience developing and leading a important functional area of a growing business.• 5-8 years proven product costing experience in a volume manufacturing enviroment.• Solid experience operating cost accounting modules and functions of mid-range enterprise software system. • Experience with a maquila manufacturing company a plus. • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, customers, and the general public• Posses strong financial analysis and modeling skills and proficiency with MS Excel. Have proficient overall personal computer skills, including word processing, electronic mail, routine database activity, graphics and other forms of standard office software. • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of abstract variables in situations where only limited standardizations exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work effectively.• Ability to see clearly up-close.
