Collector

Under minimal supervision, this position collects delinquent customer accounts, which includes verifying customer balances and communicating with customers, to effectively collect and secure payment.

 

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent education required.Must have a general knowledge in accounting as normally obtained through the completion of one to two years work experience and/or the completion of undergraduate college coursework in accounting, finance, business, or related field to apply this knowledge to perform the functions listed above.Previous experience in collecting past due accounts strongly preferred.Must have the ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral formats to provide assistance related to the collection of delinquent customer accounts to customers and company personnel, as described above.Must have the ability to discuss sensitive financial information in potentially confrontational settings to collect past due accounts.Must be competent in the personal software packages and financial software to retrieve, process, and report financial information, as described above.Must have the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage a variety of duties tasks timely and effectively.

In addition, we are seeking hard working candidates with little or no prior collection experience having fundamental office skills and previous exposure to dealing with customers in a variety of settings.

Applicant must possess the ability to rapidly learn to negotiate a resolution on delinquent accounts while maintaining a professional demeanor on the phone.  Candidates are required to operate in a fast paced environment requiring a large call volume of both incoming and outbound calls.
