CPM-Contract Accountant

The position is responsible for the accuracy of the financial results of the Construction Program Management with the West, LLC and its subsidiaries as well as regional selling and overhead. Must be able to work independently and grasp and resolve non routine accounting issues.

Establish cost codes for the projects based on Job Cost Estimate (JCE) furnished by the Project Manager.  Set up rollover project numbers and cost codes for each new contract year.  Ensure that costs are charged to the correct contract year.  Data base management of new projects in JDE system.  Review new contracts to determine accounting’s best practice per contract.  Maintain a working knowledge of all contracts under administrative control.  Work with and maintain open communications with Regional Accounting Supervisor regarding contracts under administrative control.

Provide monthly explanations for margin variances between actual and budget and actual and forecast that are significant (usually + or - $15K).  Review monthly accrual for accuracy and reasonability.  Review monthly financial results with Project Managers.

Prepare standard and correcting journal entries.  Prepare miscellaneous journal entries to project P&L's on a monthly basis.  Record and monitor monthly expense accruals for projects.  Prepare revenue accruals for limit and pass through expenses.
