Summary
The Contract Billing Accountant is primarily responsible for reviewing & analyzing contracts to determine appropriate accounting actions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Review & analyze relevant contract terms, condition and source documents to ensure that transactions are correctly classified according to company practices. Create invoices to external customers in accordance with contract terms and in compliance with GAAP revenue recognition rules. Analyze new and existing contracts to determine appropriate billing actions and ensure that they are added to the monthly billing cycle. Identify monthly accruals/subsequent reversals for unbilled revenues. Work with business units, subsidiaries, and Contracts group to resolve billing issues. Coordinate with AR/Credit groups to identify potential credit and collection issues. Monitor pending contracts to identify appropriate timing of initial billing activities. Process inter-company billings to foreign subsidiaries. Participate in development and implementation of standard billing processes. Perform revenue analysis and reporting to ensure integrity of billing process and billing data. Assist in revenue assurance activities, including auditing of transactions and processes. Other duties may be assigned.

Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, and 2-3 years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesGeneral knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition theory Ability to project a positive and professional image on behalf of the organization Skills in interpersonal relationships; ability to establish effective working relationships Oral and written communication skills sufficient to communicate effectively and tactfully with all levels of staff throughout the organization Ability to logically structure processes and procedures Strong proficiency with MS Office
