Student (Undergraduate/Graduate) Relevant Experience: 1+ to 2 Years Accounting Clerk I Description: Summary: The Accounting Clerk I performs basic clerical duties within the accounting department at the direction of the Accounting Manager. Basic clerical duties include reviewing invoices, bills, vouchers, or other documents for corrections before entering into records; sorting and filing documents and verifying/posting transactions to journals. Other duties may include preparing bank deposits and sorting and/or distributing mail. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Files A/P and Accounting documents on a daily basis. Opens incoming mail, date-stamps and distributes mail to appropriate departments on a daily basis. Enters vendor invoices in accordance with AP guidelines. Assists with check runs including matching vendor invoices mailing out checks. Mails grower packouts and other mailings as needed. Assists with vendor and/or client maintenance. Other projects as directed by the Accounting Manager and/or other department supervisors. COMPETENCIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following: Technical Skills: Attention to detail; commitment to deadlines; well organized and good time management skills; ability to juggle multiple tasks and be flexible. Interpersonal Skills: Must have excellent communication skills, maintain confidentiality and listen to others. Teamwork: Must be able to provide results individually and as part of team. Motivation: Must be self motivated and take initiative. Quality: Must demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness and commitment to complete tasks correctly the first time. Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma 6+ months experience in accounting or other office environment Basic knowledge of office equipment and related skills. Basic/beginner MS Excel, MS Word and AS400 skills. Effective interpersonal skills. Must be very organized, have the ability to multi-task and be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving workplace.
